Cargo transition from Gas Condensate to Jet A-1 requires a clean cargo tank to prevent hydrocarbon residues and water from affecting aviation-fuel quality. This study evaluates the efficiency of cold-sea-water tank cleaning on MT. Nordmarlin and its conformity with cargo acceptance requirements. A qualitative descriptive approach was applied through onboard observation, interviews with the Chief Officer and Bosun, and review of operational documents. The findings show that the light residue characteristics of Gas Condensate allow high-pressure cold-sea-water washing without water heating. The method shortened preparation by approximately 2–3 hours compared with hot-water washing and reduced energy demand for the tank-cleaning heater. Tank readiness was confirmed by clean, bright, and dry conditions, a zero-water-test result of 0 ppm, a gas-free reading of 0.3% LFL, and the absence of hydrocarbon residue and odor during inspection. However, tank corners, structural joints, and shadow areas still required manual cleaning. Cargo-characteristic-based method selection therefore supports operational efficiency without compromising cleanliness and safety.
